Alan William Krueger passed away March 14, 2026 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN, at the age of 80 years, 5 months,14 days. Blessed be his memory.

Alan William Krueger was born on September 28, 1945 in Faribault, MN, the son of Bernard and Frieda (Priebe) Krueger. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault where he also attended parochial school. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1963 and then from Mankato State University with a degree in special education.

Alan enlisted in the US Army on August 9, 1968. He attended an administration course in Ft. Dix, NJ and Chaplain’s Assistant Course at Ft. Hamilton, NY. He served in Vietnam from January 21, 1969 until March 14, 1970. Shortly after, he reenlisted with the Army Reserve stationed at Fort Snelling. He was the Chaplain Assistant to Chaplain Howard (Padre) Krienke, in the 88th US Army Command. He retired with a title of Master Seargent E8 from the position after 32 years.

At the age of 40, Alan started looking for a mate (probably to iron his many army shirts!). He was invited to Stiftungsfest by a mutual friend and that is where he met his first and only wife. He married Joyce Kazemba on February 15, 1987, at St. John’s Church in NYA, thus inheriting a ready-made family of three daughters, Linnea, Andrea and Mary.

Along with his great love for his family, Alan enjoyed skiing the Birkebeiner, playing Rugby, and chess, as well as motorcycling and bicycling.

Living in NYA, Alan was involved with the American Legion, VFW, City Council and volunteered on the Stiftungsfest planning committee. He also served on the Fort Snelling National Cemetery Rifle Squad as the flagbearer.

After hearing The Augsburg Centennial Singers at Fort Snelling Chapel, Alan applied to and was accepted to join their chorus. They gave concerts at churches in the Minneapolis area and annual winter concerts in Arizona.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Frieda Krueger, brother Dale Krueger, brother-in-law Pastor Henry Mueller, stepmother Marie Krueger, mother-in-law Susan Halvorson, step-daughter Andrea Kazemba, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Duane Myers and his beloved dog, Fritz.

Alan is survived by his loving family: wife, Joyce; step-daughters Linnea (Steve) Goetz and Mary Giese; grandchildren: Katelyn Goetz (fiancée Nick), Shelby (Cody) Rosenau, Ben (Anna) Goetz, Lindsey (Hunter) DuRand, Devyn (Brady) Buckentine, Claire Giese (fiancée Loren), Adison Giese, Elizabeth Giese; and great-grandsons, Drake and Banks DuRand, Luke and Drew Buckentine; sisters Jean Mueller and Joyce (Wolfgang) Furst; sister-in-law Ruth Krueger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken and Diana Olson; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
