Chuck, as he was known, is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy (Harrell of Springfield, MO); daughter Jennifer (Adams) Dale and her husband Larry Dale; daughter Kimberly (Adams) Adams-Johnson and her husband Joe Johnson; and son Matthew Adams. Chuck and Peggy adored their 4 grandchildren: Cody and Emma Dale, Grace Burns-Adams, and Aspen Adams.

Chuck died after a 4-year battle with dementia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be directed to Samaritan’s Purse (www.SamaritansPurse.org), or the Gary Sinise Foundation (www.garysinisefoundation.org).

Chaplain (Colonel) Charles V. Adams, United States Army, Retired, was a native of Kansas City, Kansas. After completing the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in 1964 and 1965 at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, he completed the Master of Divinity degree at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1968.

A funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St, Colorado Springs, Colorado at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Interment will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

ATTENTION CHAPLAIN CORPS FAMILY MEMBERS

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY AWAITS!

The United States Army Chaplain Corps Regimental Association (USACCRA) is proud to announce its new scholarship program designed to support the educational goals of military families.

Who is eligible?

Any person whose sponsor is a spouse, parent, legal guardian, or grandparent who:

  • Is active-duty military, active reservist in drill status, National Guard, or an honorably discharged veteran.
  • Is/was a Chaplain, Chaplain Assistant/Religious Affairs Specialist, Director of Religious Education, or Department of the Army Civilian serving in a position with the US Army Chaplain Corps.
  • Is a current member or USACCRA existing chapters worldwide.

What are the benefits?

  • Contact us for an information packet.
  • Submit a completed application, including a cover letter, verification of sponsor status, proof of relationship with sponsor, acceptance into an educational program, academic transcript, and two letters of recommendation.

  • The scholarship can be used for a variety of educational programs, including community college, college, university, military/service academy, or trade school.
