Anniversaries
Anniversaries are usually memories of past events. In July the Army Chaplaincy Corps celebrated its 250th birthday meeting God’s calling to serve God and country for soldiers and their families. Our country will party in 2026 remembering its 250 years as a nation. I will enjoy with my wife 50 years of marriage this month. It’s all good.
I believe the best anniversaries look both ways, to the past and to the future. For the Army Chaplaincy Corps, God has not rescinded our mission of “bringing God to soldiers and soldiers to God”. Therefore, our future is to improve upon our legacy achieving ever better religious freedom for all Army personnel. As the branch association for the Army Chaplain Corps, USACCRA (The Association) seeks to hold up the arms of the Corps as it strives in the world providing help to soldiers worshipping God in their chosen traditions. In In an Army of ever-growing diversity of faith groups and a continuous challenge to unity in the world, the Army Chaplaincy Corps has its hands full
How can The Association help? First, encourage and help each other in our walk with God. This is our primary relationship and power to provide religious freedom. Second, is retaining and deepening our relationship with each other as unit ministry teams. We cannot give what we don’t have. These bonding friendships and working relations also empower us for service. USACCRA conducts a biennial gathering to further these friendships. (Next up is 27-30 October 2026 in San Antonio, TX). The recent 250th ball has added to this effort. Third, we can volunteer our time and talents towards numerous opportunities. We need team members helping board members with growing membership and programs. Board positions are available every year. Local chapters require active members. Fourth, we need more chapters to better reach the entire Corps. This requires an enthusiastic person willing to make a start and plant The Association flag. Fifth, become a member or donate funds generously to support USACCRA. We don’t have TDY funds or grant money. Membership dues and direct donations support us. We hope in the future the Corps Stores will assist in this effort. Check out the site, ProLine 2: US Army Chaplain Corps Regimental Assoc. Lastly, we covet your prayers. Prayers are powerful. Prayer is primary to any mission accomplishment. Please pray.
Pro Deo et patria,
Scottie Lloyd (USACCRA President)
