July President’s Message

July President’s Message

We are a few weeks away from the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Army Chaplain Corps. Over 600 tickets to the ball are sold and counting. Several corporate and endorser sponsors have joined in support of this historic event. There are over 20 folks who have signed up to have fun playing golf at the Ft. Jackson MWR course to assist the USACCRA Family Scholarships. Wives are ready to gather for a special program and lunch to commemorate now and the future of spouses and families in the Chaplain Corps. IRL students and faculty are stretching for the Regimental Run. And more.

Add to this the Military Chaplain’s Association (MCA) will celebrate their 100th anniversary (1925) during the later part of the week concluding on Saturday in Columbia, SC.

All these events will commemorate, celebrate, but hopefully be directed to the Corps’ mission, “bringing God to Soldiers and Soldiers to God”. This is not a huah for us and how good we are, but how privileged we are to be God’s servants to so a challenged population in our society. Soldiers and their families put it all on the line and we as Religious Affairs Specialists, Directors of Education, Supportive Civilians, and Chaplains are God’s Regiment to reach out with the best religious support possible to ensure this.

We do this with a vast religious diversity that mirrors the American population. If we cannot perform then we will provide an equal religious support to all soldiers and their families in our units. We are the most successful religiously diverse group in human history that cooperates,  communicates, and coordinates towards a mutual mission showing respect for each other without literally killing each other. We all believe in God though in perhaps vastly different forms and ways, but by supporting each other we are making a way for each of us to serve God as God has called each of us to this ministry. This is why the current Chief of Chaplains, CH(MG) Green, Jr., emphasizes the exercise of our calling, and I emphasize the basic mission. Together, these two crucial points unite us for Unit Ministry Team success.

Actively serving or veteran, it makes no difference. Each of us have a call that doesn’t stop with what uniform or civilian attire we wear. That is why I hope we are gathering in Columbia, SC to celebrate. To God be the glory in the service we have done, are doing now, and will continue to do by God’s grace and direction into the future.

Update – Tickets for the ball and golf are Sold Out.

If you can’t come, and many can’t for good reasons, check out the new USACCRA Corps Store for the latest 250th Anniversary shirt you can purchase with ProLine2 at
https://store.goproline.com/US-Army-Chaplain-Corps-Regimental-Assoc.html . Every purchase puts a couple of dollars in the USACCRA till for support of our membership and Corps besides owning a piece of chaplain history.

During the 250th Celebration week USACCRA will proudly announce the six youth winners of this first year’s USACCRA Family Education Scholarships. They are an outstanding bunch that is leaning into the future with talent, intelligence, and hope.

Lastly, the USACCRA website is going through a major overhaul in design to be more user friendly and professionably presentable. A professional web designer is working on this now and we are shooting to have it completed by the anniversary week. It’s a new day for USACCRA.
