Communication is critical for ministry in support of “bringing God to soldiers (and their families) and Soldiers (families) to God.” The whole Army is renewing emphasis on writing skills presently. Are you familiar with how the Army Chaplaincy is contributing to this effort?
The Corps provides a professional peer-reviewed academic-level online and paper journal dealing with current chaplaincy work. Operationally led by Army civilian Dr. Adam Tietje and assisted by the Military Chaplaincy Review Advisory Board, this prestigious outlet provides opportunities to military and civilian writers to wrangle with present Corps challenges, extract lessons from our history, and offer new ideas and approaches for better religious support to the military services. Although Army initiated and led, the Navy and Air Force Chaplain School Commandants, and a variety of civilian scholars from universities, service academies, and the State Department, are actively involved in advising and improving article submission. Your USACCRA President is an Ex Officio for this program.
Research articles are received by two different peers with one review for best practice articles. Everyone related to the uniformed chaplaincies are invited to submit their work. This includes Veterans of our corps and all compos. I encourage all our USACCRA members to consider contributing a piece. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Here is a prime way to inform the presently serving for future success. Please see the journal website for the latest edition and details for submissions. https://usairl.tradoc.army.mil/journal/

250th Army Chaplain Corps Celebration
The Army celebrates its 250th birthday, 14 June. Coupled with the Army Chaplain Corps’ 250th birthday, it is a big year for events. Many of us will not be invited to the Washington, DC activities but everyone is invited to the USACCRA-sponsored birthday bash for the Army Chaplaincy Corps in Columbia, SC 29 July-1 August. This week includes a first-ever charity golf game with proceeds supporting the USACCRA Family Scholarships. Later, we transfer our legacy to the future generation of UMTs during a run on Thursday followed by other festivities. Lastly, on Friday, 1 August, we pull out the stops for the biggest ball in Chaplain history with the finest finery, oldest traditions, and dedicated servants of God sharing with each other. Tickets and details are on our USACCRA website at chaplainregiment.org. Please be there. We are family together.
Donations
If you can’t come to the events above, please consider a financial donation to help defray costs for this birthday. Any amount is deeply appreciated and will be used wisely and well. Best contributions are sent by check to USACCRA Treasurer Dennis Madtes at 4112 Goldmine Road, Goldvein, VA, 22720. The USACCRA website can take donations also but note that PayPal charges a fee reducing your gift.
Corps Store Coming Soon!
A special team is working diligently with their leader, USACCRA Board Member Jonathan Gibbs III on final arrangements to resurrect this benefit for all. As soon as the store can be opened, an announcement will be sent. Among other items, a special 250th anniversary shirt will be available to commemorate our historic milestone.
Thanks to all for your past and present service to God and country.
Scottie Lloyd USACCRA President
