Robin L. Aplet was born (14 April 1941) a pastor’s son and grew up with his siblings in the church parsonage. He felt the call to Christian ministry in his early college years.
Following college and seminary, he was ordained, and commissioned by the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant Chaplain. He was promoted to Captain, completed air assault training and served a year with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. After his promotion to Major, he was selected to train as a Clinical Pastoral Education supervisor. He was approved by ACPE as a full CPE Supervisor, and was principally responsible for establishing the CPE Center at Brooke Army Medical Center. After serving 26 years of active duty, he retired from the Army in San Antonio, TX, and was contracted to continue serving as the CPE Supervisor at BAMC.
His military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
At the age of 82, Chaplain Aplet died on 9 May 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by Loretta, his wife of more than 50 years, and their three children Darren, Kimberly and Lisa, and a host of Chaplain colleagues.
