Ministry Report:

I retired from the Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in 2006 after 26 years of active duty, 7 years in the California National Guard, and four years in the Army Reserve.  Immediately after retirement, I worked for six months in Baton Rouge, La for the Louisiana Family Assistance Center for Hurricane Recovery.  In September 2006 I became an associate endorser for the Baptist general Convention of Texas and still work in that position.  I also held a part time position funded by the Texas Veterans Commission of in-home counseling of veterans from 2010 until 2013.  In addition being associate endorser, I also supply preach and volunteer with the Bexar County Veterans’ Commission in conducting graveside memorials at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for unaccompanied veterans.  I am a certified trainer in Crisis Response Training for the National Organization for Victim Assistance and for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training with Living Works, Inc. and have conducted these trainings in various locations.  My wife, Sherry, retired as an Air Force civilian in 2008 and now travels with me to visit our endorsed chaplains.  Since suicide death of our daughter-in-law in January of 2014, we have also been involved in raising awareness in churches about suicide and mental health issues.

Ministry Report:

After retiring in 1992 I served seventeen years as the Chief of Pastoral Care, Citizens Medical Center, Victoria, Texas. While there I completed a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and wrote a Doctoral Project on Recruiting and Training Lay People for Hospital Ministry. I retired from Citizens Medical Center in 2009 and my wife Marcia and I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be near two of our three children and six of our ten grandchildren. I am currently volunteering at the Las Vegas Veterans Medical Center, teaching Sunday School at Shadow Hills Baptist Church, started a Grief Share support group in conjunction with one of the church pastors, have trained numerous church members in hospital visitation and am a member of the Nevada Camera Club. I have won numerous awards for my photography. Marcia is physically limited but doing well. She is very busy with her family genealogy, scrapbooking and involvement with our grandchildren.
