I retired from the Army in 1992 after serving 5 1/2 years as Post Chaplain at Ft. Riley, KS. We moved to Shawnee, KS, where we had built a house. I have been primarily involved in volunteer work since that time. I have spent over 15 years very active as a volunteer fire service chaplain. During that time I was also on the Johnson County Crisis Intervention Stress Management Team. I am still on call for both the fire department and CISM, but restrict my activities to just being on call. My wife (Carol) and I have also been active in a local church and for over 15 years provided a pre-marriage seminar once a quarter. We were also involved in other volunteer activities including teaching and serving on various committees. For over 10 years we assisted and led caravans for WBCCI, which is the international Airstream Club. We have been as far east as Newfoundland, as far west and north as Alaska, and as far south as Baja. At present I still do a column on caravans for the Blue Beret, the national WBCCI monthly publication. I still teach adult classes in our church. I have also recently submitted a book for publication.
