J. Roger Dill writes:  I retired–again–June 2012, from a small church on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I served five wonderful years with a small congregation of marvelous older folks. Hurricane Irene in 2011 flooded the building and we used the insurance to jack the brick church up to above 9 feet above sea level. What money was left bought materials and builder that I have been all my life, and my boss is a Jewish Carpenter, I was able to oversee the restoration and do most of the work. But it was not as easy as it used to be going to build schools in Belize or volunteering in Florida following Hurricane Andrew in the early 90’s. God has a way of using us where we are, or leading us to where there is work to be done that God can bless. Being on an Island these past five years, I was also blessed to conduct several funerals where military honors were rendered, sadly not all were older retirees.
